WorldSkills Philippines at Shanghai CPW 2026

WorldSkills Philippines joined delegations from across the globe at the Competition Preparation Week (CPW) of the 48th WorldSkills Competition, held from February 2-5, 2026 in Shanghai, China.

More than a technical convention, CPW brought together Skill Management Teams, Members, Global Partners, the Competition Organizer, and WorldSkills International to align on logistics and move planning forward for WorldSkills Shanghai 2026. Over four days, participants engaged in detailed organizing meetings for each skill competition, finalized infrastructure and workshop layouts, and ensured health, safety, and environmental standards are in place.

Leading the Philippine delegation was TESDA Deputy Director General for TESD Operations Vidal D. Villanueva III, serving as WorldSkills Philippines’ Official Delegate, together with Technical Delegate Jovencio M. Ferrer, Jr., Technical Delegate Assistants David B. Bungallon and Dexter C. Hulleza, and Team Leader Niezza G. Soriano.

The Philippines will field 11 competitors in 10 skill areas at the 48th WorldSkills International Competition in September 2026, composed of proud medalists from WorldSkills ASEAN Manila 2025 and WorldSkills Asia Taipei 2025.

The CPW in Shanghai comes at a timely moment, as WorldSkills Philippines also prepares to conduct its own Competition Preparation Week for the 21st National Skills Olympics, now officially branded as WorldSkills Philippines 2026 – a bold step toward full alignment with WorldSkills International standards.

At its core, skills competitions reflect larger forces shaping our world today: the future of work and economies, respect for excellence in skilled work, and the empowerment of youth through real opportunities. They showcase the growing attractiveness of skills, foster cultural exchange and global unity, and demonstrate how skills drive innovation, sustainability, and solutions to real societal challenges.

Skills don’t just build careers – they build nations.
